Permaculture introduction… What’s that?

permaculture-image (1)Hiya folks! Recently I have become OBSESSED with Permaculture. What is Permaculture you say? Permaculture, as defined by, Bill Mollison is, “… a philosophy of working with, rather than against nature; of protracted and thoughtful observation rather than protracted and thoughtless labor; and of looking at plants and animals in all their functions, rather than treating any area as a single product system.” So, pretty much, it’s a badass way of farming and looking at natural systems and modeling our behavior around those systems. It incorporates really cool fields like biomimicry, sociology, ecological design, among many others, into one.

There are so many great resources out there if you are looking to kick your organic gardening up a notch. Might I recommend “Permaculture Two” by Bill Mollison and David Holmgren. Here’s a PDF of it here: http://library.uniteddiversity.coop/Permaculture/Bill_Mollison-Permaculture_Two-Practical_Design_for_Town_and_Country_in_Permanent_Agriculture.pdf.

Currently my family and I are incorporating Permaculture aspects into our day to day lifestyle. From hugelbeds to backyard chickens, we are staying oh so busy. If you, or someone you know are interested in permaculture, please comment below so that I may help in whatever way I am able.
